at about 3:30 this afternoon, i lost a friend.

his son probably will not say kaddish for him, because they weren't close and the son's not religious.

so i'm going to do it.

( Yit'gadal v'yit'kadash sh'mei raba... )

i think everyone should get to have a jack in their life. then again, i might be biased.

Baruch Dayan Emes. Next time I'm in shul, I'll keep him in mind when I say kaddish, too.

My offer of hospitality for any of the Shabbos weekends or Yomim Tovim always stands. Just say the word and we'll clear off a space. I'll have a little succah this year, and we'd love to have you over. No pressure, just lots of celebration of life.

It doesn't matter to me where you are in your level of observance, it just matters to me that you are.

and thank you for the continued offer. i'll let you know what's going on. i'm honestly still settling in... i don't even have a bed yet or apartment furniture, and things are still a bit hectic.

i'm sorry for your loss, hon. jack sounds like he was an amazing man, and in today's world, amazing is sometimes hard to find. and you -- you, hon, are amazing as well. that's more than obvious in this entry.

something to remember, which i know you've probably heard until it's annoying, is that jack is no longer suffering. it's just the people left behind that have to hurt.

i know we don't talk like we should, but just know that i'm willing to listen if you ever need to talk.

yeah. i know. he was 96... it was just time. there are people that i just can't imagine ever dying because they just LIVE so well. he was one of those. i'll be ok in a while.

no worries. we don't talk like we should because i'm never online anymore. i hope that changes and things settle down for me a bit and i have time to talk to you and other internet friends a bit more.

Aww... I'm sorry. :( I hate October. I believe I heard of this man in your previous entries? If I'm correct (and just from reading what you wrote here) he sounded like a really great guy. But you already know this. I'm sorry for your loss.
