You should probably start be setting a price range. Jordan's furniture, IKEA, and Lay-Z-Boy all have great websites. They will give you a quick overview of styles and prices. For tangible shopping, Ikea is totally worth the trip for the Lingonberries. Local furniture stores are probably your best bet if you want to bargain hunt. You will probably need to haggle. I've known a few people to have success with overstock.com. All my orders with them have been great, but they were all small items, nothing Sofa size.
