I totally agree with you on this. I was also especially repulsed by the part in the article where the teacher said something about her story getting extra attention because she was hot. She's clearly very concerned about what she's done. *sigh*
I've been following that story pretty regularly. Frankly, I personally think that her rather lenient sentence is more a case of "women and children aren't as capable of being accountable for their actions as men are." Which leads to harsher penatlies for men.
You can't keep someone in the ditch without getting down in there with them.
I really don't want to delve into this whole can of worms right now, but suffice to say I'm going to have to disagree with you.
If this were something like petit larceny, I'd say you have a point.
If that teacher were a guy, no question, he'd be facing prison time. It has nothing to do with perceived accountability, and everything to do with the fact that she's not a male. Hence, sexism.
