I find it sub-par. Far too inconsistent and jerky. No place on my playlist for it.

Well, it was music written for a play (by Daudet). There's a lot of thematic things going on in the background that cause it to make a little more sense choreographically.
Not that this would or should make the least bit of difference in whether or not you like it, but I thought it would point it out nonetheless.
