I've begun working on the fic again, newest piece   here.  I've got a bunch of started-and-stopped pieces on the computer; I don't know if I'll wind up using them, or if they'll just end up in the outtakes folder.  The 2012 Giants season has certainly given me enough to work with ( Read more... )

I've discovered I can only write fic in the midst of daily life.

I find this to be true for me too. If I block out a day for writing I end up getting sucked into watching the Food Network for hours on end, but then I'll furtively write fic at work when I'm under tight deadlines for other projects. My theory is that the more confining the work circumstances, the more my brain resorts to coping mechanisms like fandom lol.

Just read the fic, too, and really enjoyed it. It's beautifully written and has a very compelling rhythm to the words? Idk that's probably a weird thing to say but it's very descriptive and relentless, both in the language and the action you're describing, a very immersive experience to read it.

Happy new year! Your Christmas sounds lovely, or at least many parts of it do. Congrats on the progress on the academic book, and hurray for conditions favorable to fic setting in again!

Thanks - it was fun. It's always good to be back in California, where in spite of all the changes since I left thirty years ago, feels like home. And always will.

I look forward to writing the fic too! I'm changing direction; different voices, different characters in the story arc. I've kinda gotten in a groove and it's time to peer out over the top.
