Free expression exists in part so that people can share ideas and *learn*. When someone says, "I'm entitled to my own opinion," they're basically saying "I don't care if I'm wrong, I'm not listening any more, la la la" and can wander off on their happy little bigoted, hypocritical way. That handy little shorthand devolves debates into shouting-matches and shouting-matches into ignorant silence.
