I need to learn how you got a pump big enough to do that. And how to hook up the damned thing to an electrical source.
Then I'm going to have to learn how to do masonry and more. And find the time to do something like that (Except I want, really, something along the line of a mountain in miniature and a waterfall. And a really, really deep pond.
That stream is just awesome. I am jealous, yes I am.
The pump is a rather common one, at least here in the States. In fact, it wasn't the largest they had. It's only small to medium-ish. We ran an extension cord. We'll get around to hiding that later. :D
And, no masonry required. Every stone is free-standing. Part of the fun was placing the rock and seeing if it "liked" being where it was. If it wobbled, it didn't like it, and we flipped it, or turned it around, or, in some cases, used a different rock. Almost every stone there is very stable, and the stones also serve as a retaining wall holding back the soil behind it.
Want to make a pond? Start drawing plans, think like water. I'll post "How it was made" pictures later, but suffice it to say, dig the hole bigger than you think you want it, because once the rock goes around, it can get awfully small. Also, choose a good liner. We used 45 mil EPDM rubber.
As for time... *shrugs* If you've got time to dig a couple shovelfuls of dirt... you have time to make a pond. ^_^ It just takes longer!
we have one like that in the front yard. a park bench at its banks. hubby wants to install another one in the back yard. there can never be enough ponds/waterfalls....definitely mind-calming.
