I got my Masters in May and now I'm in Lawrence, Kansas where I will be officially starting a PhD program in about four days. As to when we shall be seeing one another, who is to say. There is a possibility that I will be in Chicago for a bit over winter break but knowing you, you may be halfway around the world by then.

correct you are. just got back to japan yesterday and am beginning my final year here. which puts me back in chicago for a short stay in a year's time. eventually, though, i bet i will see you in person once again. best with the phd.
