This looks like a decently set up mac. Opinions?

Yeah?

It doesn't have the magnetic power cord joint, which I wanted since that's where my last two 'puters have started their disintegration.

But he'll throw Word on there for me too, which means that I'm set for software until I need GIS or AutoCAD in the fall.

Ooh, that would be nice.

Just looking at the stats, though- if it's really that new, it's a good deal, IF the hardware's up to date. I kinda assumed it was a current model. If it's not- might not b such a great deal, but still a good deal.

I agree with ribbin. I'd go for it.

Bodger and Aria pointed out that it's pre-intel processor. This one's more recent: http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/sys/1172104410.html

Anything specific you'd recommend checking?

Aria and Bodger were good to point out the defaults of the other one. With the recent post I'd say look at if the battery has yet to be replaced, and also if the heating has been modified since it was originally shipped (they had to alter how the heat was spread out on mine).
