The Insider's Guide to Guidance Counseling

Aug 31, 2009 12:49

Fandom High now has a guidance counselor! But, you might be wondering, what can he do for you? Here's a handy dandy guide!

I Need to Talk to Someone About This Issue I Have

Sweets would be more than happy to psychoanalyze any students and teachers who have issues they would like to work on. Or, you know, he would be happy to psychoanalyze everyone regardless of whether or not they like it.

However. If your character would seek out therapy, they are welcome to drop by Sweets' open office hours on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Or they can call/email and arrange for another time to hold private sessions. Sweets will uphold doctor/patient confidentiality unless he feels you are an imminent danger to yourself or others.

If your character is not the type to seek out therapy but you want them to have it anyway, let me know. I'm sure we can work something out to make it happen.

I Don't Know What To Do With My Life

Sweets can also provide typical high school level guidance counseling: college prep, class selections, career counseling, etc. Again, your character is welcome to stop by during the open office hours posts or call/email for an appointment.

My Townie Could Use Some Therapy

Even though it wouldn't fall under his purview as the school guidance counselor, Sweets would be happy to offer support to any adult in town who needs it as well. This would obviously be a little trickier to set up, but drop me a line or catch me on AIM and we can work something out.

Mediation

Sweets is available to provide in character conflict resolution. Characters fighting? They are welcome to seek out assistance on their own or be assigned to it by an authority figure. He's also willing to provide couples counseling.

Therapy/Mediation as Punishment

Teachers! If you're looking for a longer term punishment than detention or if a student is unable to attend a detention for whatever reason, you are welcome to assign a student to a mandatory counseling session (one time or ongoing) with Sweets (provided there is OOC permission from the student character). Those sessions can occur during open hours or by appointment.

Small Groups

Got a group of people with similar issues who would like group counseling sessions? Let me know! Sweets would be happy to help out.

Assemblies

Once a month, Sweets will provide an assembly on what he deems to be a topical subject. If you have any suggestions or requests for these, drop me a line!

ETA: Radio Squirrels! Sweets' office should be treated like the clinic. It's okay to report who comes and goes, but the contents of all conversations should be NFB. Thanks :D

I think that covers everything. Got any questions?
