man, guys. I am actually crying. That was just a beautiful piece of oration. Here's keeping my fingers crossed Obama can live up to his apparent potential.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who ( Read more... )

just, like. A lot of what he said in this speech was exactly what I had been really hoping to hear four years ago out of bush. (harr harr, actually cannot believe I thought that was possible.) Everything he said about knowing that, even though he was elected by some people, he has to be everyone's president. The line to "all the people I've yet to earn the respect of" just killed me. Because to me, at least, almost the worst thing about Bush's presidency was he was content pandoring to the 51% of America that voted for him, and basically telling the other half of the country they could go fuck themselves. And I really, really hope Obama won't do that.

ahh, sorry to ramble at you. We're living through history, baby.

Blargh, I was at work during the election results, and even though the tv was on I could hardly hear any of this speech. Thus, thank you for posting this, because I'm sure I would have put off looking up clips online from tonight for at least a couple days (lazy, lazy). This is honestly very moving. And, seriously, I'm really relieved about the election results. I was feeling uneasy for a little bit about which direction things were going to go.

(It's odd not writing something along the lines of "OMG Arashi" in my comment to you. My life has hit a sad note, with this fact alone.)
