Wow, it has been a long time since I have updated. Uh... sorry about that? I still am reading my f-list all the time, I just keep... not updating. Probably because I am a lazy bum.

Anyway,
abbers44 told me I had to give her advice about living and studying abroad in Japan, and I thought that would be a good way to procrastinate while feeling somewhat ( Read more... )

oh dear. yes, it is difficult. Um, honestly you will not be able to bring everything back with you that you want to. So pack as light as possible. You'll most likely have your laundry done every day or every other day, so you really don't need more than three or four days worth of clothes. I'd say bring the bare minimum for a week to ten days worth of clothes, a pair of sneakers, a pair of comfy non-sneakers, and a pair of fancy shoes, and that's it in terms of clothes. I ended up leaving two pairs of shoes in Japan, because it made my luggage a bit less heavy when I left. alskdfj You will want to replace your entire wardrobe once you've been in japan for a few weeks, and aside from pants everything is pretty big and drapey there, so you shouldn't have trouble finding clothes that fit. (Jeans are a different story, though. :P skirts shouldn't be a problem at all ( ... )

and layers layers layers. If you can wear something on its own in summer, and with something else over top of it in winter, you are golden. It's insanely hot and humid in the first month or so, and can get pretty cold in winter (though probably not as cold as you're used to at school in the winter). No need for a huge coat, if you've got a light coat and a sweater or sweatshirt to put under it. But bringing something warm that you can sleep in would probably be a smart idea. (Although I suppose you could buy something there, if you wanted)
