Oh god, this was exactly what I've been wanting from fandom since John said 'Very good'. I know it's difficult to write medical without sounding like a wiki entry or like you don't know what you're talking about, but this was truly perfect. I was right along with Sherlock, reveling in John's intelligence and competence, and unf, oh god. Army military John is my favourite as well. You've really, really got him pinned here, and the dog tags!

Beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful.

What's kind of sad is that I sound a bit like a wikipedia entry when I talk in real life, anyway. @_@

And thank you so very much for the lovely comment. I'm happy to have provided something considered exemplary. And oh, those dog tags: my own flatmate (not that sort of flatmate, alas) provided me with that little idea, and given that I was in the midst of writing this, it had to go in.

Haha. If only I could take full credit for them, but alas, I can only be credited for what I did with the idea (*!*!John shirtless wearing dogtags*!*!) which was itself borrowed from my roommate, who I've now linked in the story header before she kills me for lack of crediting.

Ah this was fantastic. I really enjoyed you turning so much of the tropes often used in Watson's analysis of Holmes against Watson and how well you drew a portrait of both of them as a result. I always thought Watson with people was like Holmes with crime scenes, and considering the annoying tendency of people to turn up in crime scenes, I thought this was a big part of why they work. Watson's a very sharp guy as well after all.
Also being a very self-aware student of psychology before going into law, I absolutely love the way you tackled Sherlock's self-diagnosis, which was the single most telling thing he said in the show for me. I like to think it is not just the romantic fanfic reader in me that went, "oh Sherlock!" when I hear that. So problematic and revealing...

You flatter me greatly, darling. I know exactly what you mean about competent!sharp!Watson and I couldn't be happier than to hear that I've not only pulled it off, but also pleasingly dissected the psychology bits behind the plot-bit of this story, and the boys' relationship. Thank you so much.

So, so good. I agree - I love it when John is special, too, when he's a partner, an independent, intelligent man, someone Sherlock can't q u i t e figure out. As opposed to a barely-strings-two-thoughts-together-pet!John you often find in the fandom. Hurrah for competent soldier!John. :) And also, love the language theme. Arabic for John, French for Sherlock.... spot on! :)

I have a major obsession with relationships between characters who are both intelligent and sharp and interesting. And a minor obsession with the language thing. I'm glad that you've enjoyed both in this one. Thank you very much.
