All four of them were amazing tonight. Way back when the Top 12 first sang, I placed in my rankings. My Top 4 at that point actually ARE the current Top 4, which is beyond awesome. The ones I really liked have made it this far, and that never happens.
It also makes it harder for me to see each one of them leave from here on out. They were all great tonight, so the results are more up in the air than ever before, I think. That's another great thing about this year: its been the most competitive, as far as truly talented people making it through and stepping up each week and really making this a good game.
Taylor. I've said this before, and its true. I forget how much I love him until he's singing. He's so unique and so genuine. He feels the music and he brings it every single time, effortlessly. He chose songs wisely tonight, since they showed two sides to his personality and abilities.
Chris. He's amazing and I've always thought so. As far as the complete package, he is the best in this competition, flat out. He could have left the show several weeks ago even and he would have gotten signed on the spot. The best part is that he just gets better every week.
Elliott. I adore him. Lovelovelove. I could listen to him sing anything at all forever and be a happy, happy girl. He's not as polished a performer as Chris, but I think that's a good thing in his case. Part of his charm somehow. I was worried about him coming in tonight, but he stepped up his game big time and I think he has a very solid chance of making it all the way.
Katharine. She's always been my favorite of the girls. She's pretty, but its a natural pretty, not a glossed over kind of perfect-pretty. She has a beautiful voice, when she's not trying too hard, which I think has been her biggest problem at times, tonight included. She wants it so much, and I think that eagerness and her nerves mix together to get the best of her and kind of run away with the performances sometimes. Which I think happened at moments in both songs tonight, unfortunately, though both songs also had shining moments as well.
I think Katharine deserves to go this week. They've all proven they deserved to make it to this point. But Katherine stepped up the least this week, and with the competition so close, she should be the one to leave.
In my perfect world, it would be a Chris/Elliott finale, with Elliott winning. And while I think that's a viable possibility, it really depends on how America votes and what they all bring next week.
Gah, I love this show.
