Today was Warped! In St. Pete, which, according to weather.com, had a "feels like" temperature of 99-100 degrees. But it really felt like 99,100 degrees, omg.
I left for
adellyna's at 8:20am and we were on the road from her place at 9:20. Lots of driving later, we got there a little before 11:00. My ticket was at Will Call, the line to which was not moving at ALL. So
adellyna went inside to check the schedule. She informed me I had 40 minutes until Cobra Starship (and she's wiggled up to the barrier!). I'd moved about 10 feet in the line in the previous 20 minutes, so this was not boding well for me making it in time.
But then a magical man wandered by to double check again that everyone was still in line for Will Call and not for buying tickets. He offered to pull a few people out to let us in with just our confirmations or something and I jumped on that like I'd jump on Jon Walker (which is to say, fast and hard), let me tell you, omfg.
Got inside within a few minutes, booked it to the stage, and wiggled in to the barrier next to
adellyna just as the band before Cobras was playing their last notes. \o/
We proceeded to sweat like mofos for the next half hour while we waited and also to sunburn despite copious amounts of sunscreen. IDK, we're old and pale. *hands*
Then Cobras happened and they were amazing and wonderful, UNGH. I can never express how much I love this band live. NNNGH. Also, I took a bunch of pics!
These are pretty big, but I resized/cropped so they are only actually about 20% of their original size. WTF, my camera is awesome.
In conclusion, Cobras = ♥ ♥
As Gabe was all "Thanks for coming out to see us!" and throwing up the fangs a final time, The Academy Is... began to play on the next stage over. So we booked it and
adellyna weaved through the crowd as I hung on to her awesome shiny gold bag so as not to loose her. Which I promptly did anyways, when the moshing began about four minutes later. By this point I was hot and hungry and thirsty and people pushing me were making me all off-balance. And, like. I enjoy the Academy boys, I do. Especially Butcher. But I don't love their music so much and I couldn't even see the stage anymore anyways, so I sent
adellyna a text as to my whereabouts and camped out under a tree in the shade beside the stage and listened until they were done. That? Was lovely.
After TAI, there was ZOMG WATER and a slice of pizza each so we wouldn't die. Then some wandering and some merch table visiting. I gave the Cobra merch guy a box of Emergen-C and some Primal Strips per Gabe's request and he put the Cobra cell number in my phone. I probably won't ever call/text it, but still. OH GABE. ♥ I then got ridic Cobra sunglasses and a ridic Cobra shirt (what other kind of Cobra shirt is there, actually?) and the red Clan shirt with the peas + carrots, etc. (That one was a MEDIUM, btw. And it FITS, which has not been the case for me since, oh, idk, 9th grade? \o/)
By this point it was about 2:00-ish and the other bands we wanted to see (Gym Class and Charlotte Sometimes) didn't go on until 6:15 and 7:15. Which, um. Yeah. We love you, Travie, we DO. But it was HOT and we are old and pale and weak and clearly made of lame.
So we went to see Hancock at the nearby movie theater instead, and then got an excellent Italian lunch/dinner at this fancy place we were way underdressed for. \o/
Then lots of driving (with lost of music and talk of fic and upcoming shows - Metro and Hush/Cab!!) and here I am. I spent way too much money today, but this is me actually caring. I'll be EXTREMELY well behaved financially until I leave for Denver on the 23rd, I promise.
Unnngh, so tired. I'm going to sleep so hard tonight. ILU, Flist! ♥
