Sparksong - Characters

May 26, 2013 03:06

Sparksong is almost entirely character-driven (it'd have to be, given there is no plot!) and there are a lot of the buggers, so tada.

MAIN CAST

In a Nutshell - from The Up-Goer Five Very Cold Water Breaking Game:

"This makes more sense than it should. Except for Irene (angry-girl)'s part, where I couldn't figure out how to say "berserker" without implying that she killed people while on her period. Eheheh:

This story is about a few friends who go around starting big fights in the world and little fights with each other.

There's a no-talk boy who catches animals and is one with the rocks. He likes a brown or blue-hair girl but it is hard to say so because he can't talk and feels bad.

Brown or blue-hair girl is a little mean but also good at fixing hurt people (for some reason).

She really likes a guy who doesn't like anyone that way and is really a big downer-guy.

He has a same-brother who likes music and books and is nice.

Said same-brother is love-joined with an always angry girl who breaks things and hurts people (but only in blood-angry-time).

Always-angry girl has a big brother who never does anything and smokes and actually is cool while doing nothing, I think. He gives great talks to sad or stupid people.

Big brother guy has sometimes-love with a boy who is really very stupid and never thinks before he acts or talks or any time, really.

And stupid-guy is crazy in love with their lead-girl with this-way-that-way hair and green eyes and strange mind-think power.

That is all."

Okay, okay. For real this time, in the same order:

Briar:

The hunter who hit his head on a hunting trip five years ago and has been mute ever since. Has a massive pining for Meivu, but is afraid to act on it due to insecurity.
Species: Uncertain ancestry. Mostly human, likely wood spirit or even elf somewhere.

Meivu:

The beautiful, caustic, derisive river-daughter who is utterly clueless on the ways of love but puts on a great facade. Has a longstanding feud with Irene due to their clashing personalities. She's also really short and has the accompanying complex. Dyes her hair when around humans (it's naturally blue). Has a crush on Conri.
Species: Water spirit (aka river-daughter), born of the River Tallulah.

Conri:

The long-suffering self-proclaimed Only Sane Man in this world of crazies. OCD. Asexual. Actually quite handsome.
Species: Human

Côme:

The multi-talented but almost cripplingly kind twin brother to Conri. A scholar who actually Minored in Asskicking. Married to and very much in love with Irene... for some reason.
Species: Human

Irene:

The angry-in-perpetuity warrior woman. Possibly bipolar, but don't tell her that. Tends to get the short stick forever from her Author. Mostly because it's fun when she freaks out. /sadist authoring
Species: Human

Julian:

The half-brother to Irene and the calming influence. The REAL Only Sane Man (because he is whatever where Conri is freakout) who can be called lazy but just prefers to pick his battles. He and Tak are Friends With Ten Thousand Benefits. Homosexual.
Species: Human

Takoda:

The spastic, crazy, immature, enthusiastically shameless bane of Conri's existence. In something of an open relationship with both Julian and Zahra. Pansexual, though I doubt other pansexuals would take kindly to being lumped together with him.
Species: Human(?)

Zahra:

The leader of this merry band of misfits. Graceful, mysterious, holds many secrets. Puts the good of the world above herself and even other people. The only one who has any real control over Takoda, though she can't be everywhere. Gets visions and can sometimes be a human truth serum (it's connected with looking into her eyes, and besides hard to control, so far from foolproof).
Species: God-Touched Human

OTHER CHARACTERS

Linn:

One of Meivu's many sisters.

The River Tallulah:

Meivu's 'mother' and mother of thousands of water spirits, this river is one of the most sacred in the world.
