So I just realized that come December I'll be turning twenty. I won't be a teenager any more. I kind of makes me feel old (especially since my boyfriend is just turning 18 in July...). I don't know. I kind of feel like it's been wasted, like I haven't done any of the normal stupid teenager things and soon my chance to live that life will be gone. ( Read more... )

I know what that feelings like. Suddenly, you feel you have to grow up, and do everything right. though I've felt like that since I was fourteen, so maybe I'm not a good judge!

But...who says you have to eat smoothies instead of icecream? The 'real' world? The 'normal' people? If there is anything that you truly get to learn when you grow up, its that the 'real' world doesn't matter. The best, most interesting people I know are the ones who can grow up and feel happy with themselves.

Sure, we don't get to be 'innocent' any more. We've learned to much! But that doesn't mean we can take ourselves to seriously. I've been ordering happy meals since I was ten, and if I must call them 'order number 9' instead of 'I want the boys toy', who cares? They're still happy meals to me ( ... )

i felt the exact same way and sometimes i still think, "ah! i'm too old! O.o!" but the older i've become, the more i've learned to appreciate it. true, there are more responsibilities, but there are more freedoms and choices. and it's true that attitude is everything: i know a 65 year old who rides harleys, mountain climbs, and has a boyfriend twenty years younger than her, and is still a respected geologist with a PH.D. :)
