CHARACTER:
Name: Oshitari Kenya
Age: 26
Occupation: Engineer
Appearance: Kenya doesn't differ too much from his canon counterpart. His hair is still bleached and because of his job half the time he doesn't dress that impressively; when you're working with building engines and have to use oil it kind of makes sense to 'dress down'. Out of work he puts a little more effort into his clothing - though really most of the time he just has that 'cool' and 'no effort' look anyway but it's still sylish enough for him to get by.
He's fairly tall and tends to go running every morning before work so thus has managed to gain himself quite a fit physique. Not to mention his ability to make it there in a few minutes, while it would probably be a 15 minute walk or so.
Personality: Kenya is hot headed and tends to react far too easily to teasing. He's pretty dense most of the time and because of this, he tends to rush through things despite it usually being a bad decision. In fact, his life is based on his motto 'No Speed No Life' - even rushing his meals and daily activities. This seems to work with his confidence, however, as he tends to leave things until last minute and just rush them through. To go hand in hand with this though, Kenya is pretty much easy to befriend as he's so outgoing.
History: Kenya grew up in a stable environment. His family are in the medical profession, however, that's where his few problems lie. Even from a young age he was pressured to take sciences that would advance him in the medical field - however he always seemed to do only so-so on them. Kenya has always been better with a 'hands on' approach to things, dealing with practicality rather than academically in a way. He was best at maths, dealing with equations and results rather than words and opinions or memorising anatomy and so forth (though that doesn't mean he can't do English/Japanese well - in actuality English was also one of his better subjects, though that was probably mainly because of the type of music he listens to). It just became more practical to hand that responsibility to his brother. Despite not becoming a Private Doctor like his father, Souya, Kenya still worked with machines just like he would on a patient, so it is not like that practicality is lost on him. He just chose the less gruesome option.
Kenya wasn't too close to his family either, after spending quite a lot of time with Yuushi's mother instead of his own - he almost adopted the idea of her being a second mother rather than an Aunt. The same sort of situation went with his relationship with Yuushi, especially after taking their close ages into account and in some circumstance their similarities. So while his father has tried to get him to follow the path of becoming a doctor, the lack of association with his side of the family made the split to Engineering easier.
Past incidents with his cousin didn't help with his current career choice. In his childhood he was often stuck in situations his cousin had set up, such as the incident with the marker pen where Yuushi was using him as a drawing board as he tried to remember body parts. Needless to say, being tied down almost naked kind of sticks in a persons head. Kenya wasn't innocent though, in retaliation he often did things such as putting caterpillars in Yuushi's bed, it was just unfortunate for him he was terrible at hiding the fact he'd done something in the first place and often found himself in trouble for it.
During his school life he was exceedingly popular for being friendly and active around social circles. He played drums for a band with other students, and other amusing social activities and competitions such as:
1. Watermelon cutting contest
2. "School Wide Idiot's Martial Arts Tournament"
3. Earning the Honorable MC award for the broadcasting committee
4. Participates in "It's New Years! The Eat-Until-You-Drop Complete Swimsuit Championship" and becomes the Eat-Until-You-Drop King
Needless to say, Kenya's childhood was pretty varied and out there.
In fact, while at school the idea of space and time and being able to get somewhere right away was pretty much out of Kenya's league. While time travel was established - it usually was fixed to certain points whereas Kenya wanted the ability to get somewhere in the country or hell, even the world in seconds. In fact, even throughout University and even now while working for Time Prince he spends some of his free time working on this project. Time Prince gave Kenya the opportunity to expand and to live the fast life he wanted to - which is pretty much why when he left University he headed right for the job.
SAMPLES:
Third Person: It was pretty much common knowledge that Oshitari Kenya tended to live on the edge - quite literally. Only a few minutes from when he needed to clock in at work would he leave his apartment, pretty much sprinting the entire way there. This morning was no different. Really though, for the most part, it didn't really matter if he was a little late - there hadn't been a circumstance yet where a machine had malfunctioned while he wasn't there to fix it. He didn't want to push his luck either, however.
He dumped his bag down in the staff room before throwing it into his locker, quickly shedding his jacket to get ready for another long day at work. First though, he needed coffee to start his daily routine. At least he could leave that working through though while he started to work, as the idea of standing and waiting for it was ridiculous. Just how much time did a coffee machine need to brew anyway?! He set up the reports that would log the progress of the machines so he could keep watch of them and also opened up his tool case to start working on the newest upgrade for one of Time Prince's inventions that aided people who were actually qualified to time skip.
In fact... after managing to do all that in the space of a few minutes, Kenya then turned his attention to arranging an appointment to go ahead in time to grab more materials for improvement and invention. He knew he couldn't actually do too much with that, but it would hopefully be enough to make the system even more stable for travel. By the time the coffee maker had actually finished, Kenya flipped his phone open to start calling around the different departments to double check when the first appointment was so he could monitor it. Apparently, the day was going to be longer than he thought. Damn.
First Person: I might love working here and all, but sometimes the work is just too slow! I know I'm not supposed to, as I'm supposed to monitor the system to make sure it doesn't break, but it's really hard to concentrate when all you're doing is waiting... GAH even thinking about it...! It just doesn't make any sense, I think I really need to get back to working on another upgrade that'll make it all quicker - the waiting time is still too much. I think I'd need to get the CEO's permission for that though... and that might... take too long... GAH I can't get away from that problem.
I wonder if there's another way?
