It never really goes away, does it?

I suppose not. Wasn't expecting that. Not that I thought I'd forget her; just didn't think I'd miss her that much.

Well... happy birthday? I hope you have fewer of these thoughts tomorrow, and more happy thoughts.

Well, it is my birthday, so hopefully I'll do ok. I talked to MK about it a little (after the screaming match that was the Democratic debate in South Carolina last night).

As long as you keep having these thoughts about her, she’s not totally gone. I don’t believe in an afterlife, except the stories we leave behind for the living. Sorry it’s painful. I hope not to lose either of my sibs until we’re all in our 80s. I can’t imagine losing a sibling so young.

Don’t let the age thing cloud your celebration today. 52 is just a number. Thanks for making me feel old!

I wish I had more time to spend with my stepmother in Milwaukee, so I could hear some stories about my Dad. Life is too short, even if you make it to 89.

I wanted her to live until, at least, 80, just to I could hear (over & over & over... & over again) about her birthday that year being 1/23/45. If I live to be 76-77 I can talk about "oh! Have I told you about, if my oldest sister lived to be 80... [repeat story told 1,000 times before]

As for making it up there in years: I don't know what to think about knowing someone who is, right now, 99 (my MIL).

Whoa!!! 99 is some serious longevity.

My claim to fame was having my 13th birthday on a Friday the 13th. My 58th birthday was on December 13, 2013. The digits of my age added up to 13. I invited my grad school classmates for lunch that day but only one person showed up. Kind of anti-climactic.

I hope you're around on 01/23/45 to toast Erin with her beverage of choice.
