omg your post made me go look up the book. SO TRUE. does this mean we should all strive for immaturity? or do you think that even if we were to attempt psychological maturity, it would be blocked?
Umm, haha, I actually didn't read whatever book you're probably referencing. I read a scifi novel that had a page where it quoted that, and I just quoted the quotes. Read Michael Crichton! He is cool

I always thought that the "counteracting maturity" thing was meant to be a bit more compartmentalized. Like, say, if I were adjusting to living alone, I'd become more mature, but that only applies to that single aspect of my life. On the other hand, my mindset that I use in dealing with new pieces of information (say about wormholes) is still very "immature" in that I act like a child who knows very little and constantly ask questions to fish out more information from other people.
I feel like this "maturity" is a switch that can be turned on or off at will, and that when it's turned on or off at the right times, you'll benefit immensely.
Hmm, that was very convoluted.
Also, I need to order my list in terms of importance like you did, haha. Awesome!
