One-sided

A few days ago, I ran into Tracy Chong in the DC, and just for the heck of it, sat with her group of friends instead of mine.

And they were all Asian. And though I pretty much hung out with an exclusively Asian group for the latter part of elementary school, and all of middle school and high school, it felt weird to be sitting with a table of all ( Read more... )

awww i had the opposite problem last quarter. i deliberately sought out super asian people, even though in high school i hung out with a lot of different types of people. it was really weird. now i'm at the don't hang out with anybody phase, where i just bury myself in work adn think about how much more stuff should be recycled on campus.
nooo don't go off lj! you never know when somethin gyou say can make somebody else feel better. i remember there was this one girl and she was just talking about her college experience and all of a sudden i felt SO MUCH MORE validated, like my existence as a 1-dimensional recycle-holic dbsk-manic academia girl was fine and that i didn't need to prove how well rounded and great i was at communicating to the world...you never know. you could be serving that purpose to somebody else
