Well, first of all there is now a duck pretty much living on our front porch. It laid eggs about 4 feet away from our front door under a bush. Kinda cool, so I took some pictures. It doesn't really do anything except sit there now, but before it would quack at people as they approached the door, it scared quite a few people. Honestly, who ( Read more... )

Good luck! I've tried raising those babies... but that was a long time ago! Sadly they all died before long. :-(

The duck is hatching her babies there! Awesome! I think you are supposed to leave them alone. I know they have to when they make nests at Wal*Mart.

We are letting her be. I'm just making a photo journal of her progress. Shes just started laying eggs. Apparently a duck will lay an egg ever 1-2 days untill she has laid 8-15 eggs, then she will constantly stay with them. As it is now, shes only around in the mornings and afternoons, so obviously she is still in the egg laying stage.

Hopefully the rabbits do not die, Jackie would be quite sad. Did the ones you tried to raise eat well?

Oh gosh... it's been FOREVER since the wild bunny babies. We had no idea how to take care of them. I was only maybe ten or twelve? I'm sure that whatever Jackie is doing is so much better than us fumbling around with them. I don't remember much about it except that they were so little and we tried to give them milk with an eyedropper... but it was only regular milk! I am sure that by now people can do much better with them.

I bet your duck experience is going to be very interesting. You sure have a lot of wildlife on your hands!

We had one of the cats deliver a live wood duckling to our house once. The lady down at Pet and Hobby was certified to take care of wild animals. She took the duckling and was taking care of it and then was going to take it to Michigan to release. I'm not sure why there but there must have been some reason.

Ahh, we've got some cats milk formula, which is probably far more nutritional than regular milk. As far as I know, feeding this stuff twice a day is the only thing the Vet suggested, and said to offer them carrots and lettuce when they don't seem interested in the formula anymore. If there was anything else to know, I'm sure he would have let us know about it. He gave us a huge can of the stuff for free though, so that was nice of him. He's obviously interested in their well being, so I doubt he would lead us astray.

And yea, we sure do have lots of wildlife around our houses. Between all the fish, the ferrets, the dogs, and now the rabbits. Thats lots of stuff to take care of! I've always advocated having many animals instead of children :)

I forgot to take my camera over there tonight, hopefully I remember tomorrow and can get pictures. At this point they really just sleep all day, and eat. Being that they can't see at this point, they are not real active.
