Here is where we are going to have our wedding reception - I am so excited that we found this place. They re painted recently & re finished the floors not to mention it is clean oh and only $650 to rent for 14 hours in cluding all taxes & fee's. I am such a happy girl ( Read more... )

Not odd at all! I think it's a great idea. My friend did it, and while the guests mingled and chatted with the open coffee bar she had there, the bridal party took off to have pics taken in White Rock. They came back, and everything had been setup for the dinner and dance. We partied all night!

Yeah I was thinking we could do something like that. Get the caterer to put out appies while we get pics done - nice part is it is in Queens park so there is lots to see, if kids get bored / anxious they can run outside.

Then we'd have to get someone to set up the head table while we were gone but I can't see that being difficult. We'll see what I can find in the way of ceremony locations - if anything & take it from there.

I am thinking more along the lines of having tooling with mini lights through it. But I said to Mark yesterday it really is so nice (freshly painted and clean, some of the places we looked at were just gross - one place my asthma started to bug me it was so damp & musty) you wouldn't need to do much to dress it up.

I looks over at a hill in Burnaby & since the sun goes down so early in Oct the hill will look so pretty with the lights all over it. Did I mention it was clean lol!

As someone who typesets wedding invitations for a living I can definitely tell you it's not odd at all. I don't see it as much as traditional weddings obviously, but I probably do at least 10-20 orders a month that have just that scenario. I've even done invites for people who've rented out boats and had their ceremony and party on the open water.

Well you guys are making me feel better & better! I am finding myself to want the traditional things which I am surprised about! I've found one place that we can have the ceremony at that's close by so hopefully it's open & I like it when we go to see it. If not it'll all be on one spot. Thanks for letting me know :o)
