brissy

Well I got my car back, registered it, and am sorted for another year (on Wednesday afternoon) ... and then promptly left it at home for the last 2 days while I zoomed to Brisbane for a flying visit.
It was HOT.
I drank about 6L of water a day plus various other liquids. I laughed at the 18-20 yr olds trying to be cool in crappy cars late at night in downtown Brisbane (one of them yelled something very cheeky at me and then softened it with a "ma'am" at the end, which was funny), went up Mt Coot-tha to look over Brisbane at night (along with about another billion people), enjoyed really good air conditioning in some places, fell in love all over again with renovated Queenslanders (yes, that's a house type), checked out where the Unis were, where various suburbs were, house prices etc. I had the window down nearly all the time - its going to take me days to get the knots out of my hair.
It was HOT (did I mention that yet?)
Apparently it was very hot here too though - and everywhere we went in Brisbane they said about how hot it was that day, so I guess it was hot even for there.
On the way back we drove towards a spectacular lightning storm. We could see it in the distance with huge bolts of lightning hitting the ground in the distance. But as we got closer (and actually passed under it) the lightning stayed in the clouds, but kept lighting them up with only a second or two between flashes.
When I got home, exhausted from the heat, I handed the kids their souveniers and fell on the bed fully clothed and went to sleep. If I move to Brisbane, the house better be cool! or air conditioned!
I didn't really overeat much at all while in Brisbane. I went to Sizzler on Thursday night and had steak and mushrooms, chose a baked potato instead of fries, and when I went to the salad bar, I just realised that the (high fat) things that attracted me before weren't as attractive as the salads to me. So I guess my tastes have changed over the last 18 months or so. I guess I find out how Im going weightwise on Monday at the dietician. I haven't been back at the pool yet since my illness (looking forward to that tomorrow) so no exercise, but I haven't been overeating either. So it will be interesting.
