Thanks Martin, here I am. ;)

On Friday, I went to see Gogol Bordello. You know, I never thought I'd get to see them here, in Romania. It was beautiful, I think I'm addicted to music, to live music. That feeling of sounds running through your veins and nothing else exists and all you have to do is enjoy the loud, crazy music? Yeah, I kinda love ( Read more... )

I've never heard of Gogol Bordello before. It has been some time since I let my Rhapsody Music Service subscription lapse, but I just happened to re-up it yesterday. So I'm giving them a listen as I type this. Not my usual fare--considering I turned off Goldfrapp to put it on--but listenable. Oddly the Rhapsody description says they are "Ukrainian-gypsy-punk-cabaret", one of my favorite performers use the phrase "punk-cabaret" to describe themselves, and I thought that they were unique in that.

I've not had much luck at live music performances. I always leave with the thought in the back of my mind that I'd have had a better time if I had just listened to the CD at home. Of course I'd probably not have broken a toe at home either.

I was thinking about making you a Heroes icon, but we'll have to see how the new season is first. :P

The weather is nice here. Not too hot, and not too cold. Just right.

Who are those? And if you want me to, I can send more Gogol your way, make you a real fan... ;)

Broken toe? Ouch! When did that happen?

Come on, make it, make it, please! :D Before the second season starts, I don't wanna give it a chance to suck! :D

Yes, I reply to comments in a second, why do you ask? :p

The punk-cabaret band I like? They are called the Dresden Dolls. As for Gogol, Rhapsody has a lot of their stuff. In the end I decided they're OK for an occasional listen, but not enough appeal for me to seek out any more.

I broke, or at least severely damaged, my toe at a Hole concert. I was (past-tense is especially relevant here) wearing those Chuck Taylor All-Star shoes by Converse, they low-top versions. While people were moshing about, they stepped on the backs of my shoes and pulled them off. So what ever little protection the shoes were offering was lost. My toes got trampled as a result. Luckily the floor was a standing pool of various liquids on a cold cement floor, so my feet got numb rather quickly.

OK, when I get a chance I'll see what I can do. This icon is going to be more difficult than the Lost one, but if I can pull off what is in my head, it will be worth it. :)

That was a pretty quick turn around on this reply. :P

Hi! I just found out Gogol Bordello is playing in my husband's hometown where I'll be visiting on my birthday, and it made me think of you. :) I hope it works out to go-- I just want to jump up and down and dance to them at a live show for hours on end. I hope the audiences are fun here-- I can't even imagine how amazing it must have been to see them in Romania!!

I'm glad I don't have to think about Lost for many months now-- I'm taking that pretty hard. Maybe you can get me addicted to some other show that won't frustrate me so much.

xoxo

It was a great concert, we really like their music and their show. :) So, did you go? Or will you go? :D

I recommend Heroes! Interesting and captivating plot, hot characters and superpowers! :D And if that's not your type of show, let me know, I have WAY more where that came from... ;)

Hi! Hope you're keeping somewhat cool. :) No I didn't get to go, and my birthday sucked ASS. *pouts* Maybe some other year...

Hmmm, I don't know if I can get into Heroes-- it seems a little too popular and I could never get Tom to go for it. (Maybe after a few seasons on dvd it will be more our kind of show. Sorry if that doesn't make sense. *shrugs*). Earlier this year I did Babylon 5, the Sopranos (through season 5 so far), and Six Feet Under, and I'm on season 2 of Battlestar Galactica. (It's a complete and total mindfuck but I love it! I never even knew it existed before you mentioned it-- thanks so much!) I'm on the waiting list at the library for Dexter, which I'm excited about, but that might take a year to come through. I don't know what to start next. I fear I've given up on real-time tv for the time being (until 24, Lost, and Prison Break, of course :D).

OMG, I'm SO glad you like it too! I love that show so so much... I can't believe it will be over after season 4... *sob*

You're going to love Dexter, I'm sure. It's clever and creepy and so very captivating. :)
