I would get her talking about him and how he's a jerk and how she doesn't trust him. Then ask her why she doesn't trust him. Kinda ease her into it. Have her talking first, then see if you think / feel it's okay to bring it up.
If it was my friend....I'd sit down and tell her you need advice on something very serious. Tell her everything you know, but tell her it's about a different friend of yours. Get her to tell you honestly what she'd want...and then do it. If she says "I don't think I'd want to know..." then you don't tell her. But if she says "I'd believe my friend and want to know..." then say "I'm so sorry honey, but it's about you and your husband."
Also, think about it if the situation were in reverse...would you want her to tell you?? (I would)
It's gonna hurt worse (in the long run) if you don't tell her and she finds out that you knew/had a feeling and didn't tell her.
Granted, you've got to know that she may get mad at you out of defense of her hurt and anger....but she'll eventually realize what a true friend you are.
It's a tough situation. :( I'm sorry. I'm not 100% sure what to tell you!
See if you can get her talking about it more, like why she doesn't trust him and stuff. Then maybe... you could bring up the pay phone thing. But I think you should definitely let her know something... if she gets pissed, then drop it, you did all ya could.
