I need you to call my bluff

I told my mother this morning I would be moving out this summer. She got quiet immediately, and looked away. She acted interested in what I had to say, but I could tell it stung a bit. This summer will mark the end of her children living at home. My older sister has been out for years, and my younger sister is also leaving for college this summer. ( Read more... )

TX State means a long-ass drive and dealing with even more admissions people. Lots of UT students take core classes at ACC for the price; I hear good things about that. Either way could work, though.

Parents are crazy, but friends can help.

Do it!

Yeah, except the person Ive been talking to about moving with me will be going to Tx State, and want's to live in the San Marcos area. Perhaps she can be persuaded. Hmmm...

You could always be enrolled in both, too. There are some ACC campuses fairly far south that would work with living close to San Marcos.

I had no idea you were planning on moving to Austin. That would be peachy keen. :)

tx state isn't accredited to teach theatre by the national association of schools of theatre. ut-austin, sfa, and smu are the only texas schools who are. with that in mind, i'd go for acc. it's going to look about the same to the ut people, and it's prolly much cheaper. but keep in mind, if you go to ut, your chances of getting on stage or doing anything besides run crew before you're a senior are pretty slim. we get LOTS of ut transfers here. i'm finding out with all my job interviews that it's not really WHERE you went, but how much you have on your resume that counts.

My parent's didn't seem to take it well when Pete moved in with me...he was the last of the Lek kids to move out of the house...they retired to California shortly thereafter.

Well I would want a car so I can make frequent trips back to Dallas. A girl has got to see her puppy you know!

But it is nice to know that if I absoultely cannot get a car for whatever reason, I will be able to make it around without one.

A bike will be one of the first things I buy myself upon arrival.
