What scares me a little, though, is how IC you made them for this decidedly-noncanon situation. I can almost see them making this for the show. As crack, of course. Or as an Easter egg for the next DVD, maybe?

Oh, dear! The highest praise, IMHO, is exactly what you gave me: IC-ness, etc. I would positively die of joy if this was an Easter Egg on the next DVD.

Yes, the trust, friendship, love, warmth-- all of it is so important. I've been slashing Holmes/Watson since before this incarnation, and I've been trying to keep the similarities of all versions of them in mind when writing fic for fandom. You totally articulated what works about Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in general, and what I hope carries over from the original (book) canon. Thank you for being such a close reader and thoughtful commenter.
