... when the lights go up and the curtain drops, announce the intermission. There were an awful lot of people last night who took off, vaguely dissapointed with the resolution of the play.

Yeah, I felt kind of bad for the cast/crew when after the intermission like 10% of the audience had disappeared. (People, read your programs!)
