This is insane, and doesn't even sound right. I'm just gonna vent for a sec. So yesterday I recieve a letter in my school mailbox that tells me that I OWE $277. and something cents to my total fee bill still. I don't get it b/c when I went to register for school they said that TOPS pays all of tuition, of course, and Pell Grant pays for everything ( Read more... )

Shoot. At least you GET something back. We can't keep ANYTHING we get. It all has to go to tuition and we can't even EVER put any of it toward fees, books, etc. Be thankful... right now I could SO use the extra money that I should've had the last two years.

Well, TOPS is that way. We don't get to see any of that b/c whatever the price of the school is...that's how much we get...except it goes straight to school. Pell Grant is a scholarship I had applied for. So that money is mine...except my dad puts it towards any other school expenses he would normally have to pay. You're right though. And I am thankful. But I guess I was planning on using that money for school things, etc. and now I have none of it plus I have to pay $200 something more! I'm just bumbed out and I know my dad will be disappointed. I didn't tell him yet.

Interesting. I got the Pell before but I couldn't keep any of the extra money. Books this semester alone cost me $500... that would've been nice to have any excess money to go for stuff like that. Uncle Sam can just bite me. I never did like this system much.
