I think the highlight of my entire weekend was teaching my mom how to play Rock Band. She loved it so much that she stayed in town an hour later than intended and asked to play again next time she's around. She took to the guitar way faster than I did, and she's a darn good singer, too.

My roots were looking decidedly dark, so I knew it was time to touch up my color. I went to seven -- count 'em, SEVEN -- different stores yesterday before I found my color (Feria's Deep Copper No. 74). I hit up the first five on my lunch break and started to get very discouraged. I can't believe how little I've been updating lately. I had a hideously busy five days last week at work, and then there was my grandmother, so I'm sure you all understand. Things have mostly calmed down around here. My grandmother went home on Saturday and says she's feeling better. She reassured me that she went first off to get her hair done. :) The troubling fact remains that we don't know exactly what is wrong, specifically what caused the fluid in her lungs and heart. It wasn't the Easter I was expecting. Instead of munching on chocolate bunnies, I spent much of the day worried about my grandmother, who was taken to the hospital yesterday. I've been making green smoothies every morning since last Monday. I was skeptical of adding spinach or kale to something sweet and delicious, but they are surprisingly delicious. The green flavor really does disappear. In fact, I find the kale (what I'm using this week) actually enhances the sweetness, though I think the frozen spinach is easier to ( Read more... )

My friend Kayla had her baby on Saturday. After almost 24 hours of induced labor, every contraction was making Rylyn's heart rate drop, so they did a C-section. Everyone's doing just fine. Here are a few pictures of my pseudo-niece. ( Back here! )

We're taking a four-day jaunt to Santa Fe, New Mexico at the end of April/beginning of May. I'll have the morning and afternoon of one day mostly to myself, so I've decided to partake in something totally indulgent and possibly sinful: a Spa Fusion treatment from Ten Thousand Waves.
