The sad fact is people that have to go to those extremes have no common sense...or at least no problem-solving skills.

Well, she didn't actually kill anyone, so no. She could be charged with falsifying information or some such since she obviously lied to the police when they arrived. This is the reason why I think they should classify some things as justifiable homicide, or at the very least they should give more options to battered women.
