I worked with a fellow by the name of Irving Beiner. (In case it's not obvious, Irv is a Jew.) The tradition was that the last person to the weekly staff meeting would bring donuts to the next meeting. When it was Irv's turn, he brought bagels. As we sit there munching before the meeting I say, "Bagels are proof that the Jews are God's chosen people." Without missing a beat Irv replies, "And gefilte fish is proof we're not!"
