Possibly this isn't going to go the way anyone expects...

Yeah, The Plan is completely off the rails at this point. Vincent would probably argue that it was due to the Guardians being so troublesome as to find his base before he'd finished the plan... well, if not for the pesky girder that impaled him as his base came to pieces. But life would be so boring for the characters if everything passed as they expected.

Well, it was obvious that she was meant as a brain-transfer clone, and I'm a bit surprised that a Superhero Academy type place doesn't IMMEDIATELY think of that and discuss it in detail. Backup clone rebirth is utterly standard -- the Emperor used it in the Star Wars universe, even.

Her being raised as part of that plan is interesting, although the way the flashbacks were written it sounded as though she'd been force grown and been in that tank all along, so I was confused about the Lab Assistant bit.

It's not an unknown for these people, and probably they do discuss it at some point (I'm not recalling without going back and looking if they did on page in one of the fragmentary copies that lead up to this). But for the setting it's one of those beyond cutting edge medical procedures that only a few mad science medical geniuses have managed successfully. A field Doc wasn't known to do any work in prior to the events discussed.

If this survives past exploring the characters and setting into an actual story I'll have to clarify that she's been awake. Force grown to a younger age, then allowed some time out of the tank, only to go back in sometime prior to the heroes finding Doc's base. She never revealed having any knowledge of Doc's plans for her, so the speculation that he might have been planning to make her an assistant was due to her having a fair amount of scientific knowledge.
