We got a huge stack of mail. I was very scared because everytime I go in for treatment, it is over $6000 (before insurance pays) and I have yet to recieve a bill from my insurance company and I've been dreading when it would come since it will be  3 treatments combined. unexpected $$ is the best kind.

i find that making your own coffee really does work. so does packing all my lunch and snacks for the work day instead of buying it. bagged lunches go a long way in a town where even burritos are $10.

my sister grows her own basil, but mostly just for fun. for the time it takes to grow the herbs, i don't think i'm really saving much $$. that $2 jar of basil i buy every few months doesn't exactly break the bank if y'know what i'm sayin'. ditto with baking your own bread.

it's nice to think about ways to cut back though.

I agree with bringing lunch! At my school, we can't leave. Sometimes we order out, but it isn't that often. Next week, our C lunch peeps are doing a soup and salad thing where we are bringing all sorts of soups. It is very fun to do that. Sometimes we will do nachos.

Oh, another big save: buying a 2 liter instead of doing bottles out of the coke (or water) machine. It was almost $200.

Oh, the other big saver was using your library card.

jared (bf) set up this really neat in-home system for growing vegetables. once you get them going it can save some money, and it's fun!
