Hello hello everyone. I'm getting pretty lazy with this eLJay world. hehe. D'oh well.
Well last week, I was at UCSB from Tuesday-Friday for the Orange County Leadership Camp. I was chaperoning for my alma mater, Sunny Hills High School. It was so much fun because I'm a 2-yr vet of the OCL camp and had the best time of my life the times I went.
I wanted so badly to dance at the Wednesday and Thursday night dances they held. Those of you who know me know that when I hear music, I dance. No one said I wasn't allowed to dance but I would've felt so weird to dance with a bunch of 14-17 year olds! I'd be gettin' my groove on with a 14 yr old?! SICK! hahaha. I chose to not dance and just do my duty of chaperoning--I guess it was alright. There's always the clubs to hit to get my dance on! hehehe. Ironically enough, I'm not much of a clubber. hehe.
It was also so hard for me to contain myself when it came to cheering. I remember the philosophy for many students was, "If you didn't lose your voice by the end of the camp, you didn't cheer enough!" The two times I went, surely enough, I lost my voice b/c I cheered like no other! B/c I was just the chaperone, I didn't cheer. hehe. Containment sucks!
The talent show was great b/c that was the only time I cheered for my school. The other two chaperones, c/o 1998 and 1999 alumni of Los Amigos, were so surprised to see me cheering so much. lol. Good times. I'll always have love for my high school. I loved high school. Aliso Niguel placed 3rd, Bolsa Grande placed 2nd, and La Quinta placed 1st. All well-deserved. All the Garden Grove district schools were cheering "GGUSD" (Garden Grove Unified School District). It was nice to see that unity among them.
The camp also has an event called Almost Anything Goes (AAG). It's actually a series of events. Just think of a 3 different games and 44 high schools competing for the best time. The top 3 moved on to the finals. Sunny Hills was 2nd to Santiago going into the finals. 3rd was San Clemente going into the finals. We did badly in the finals. hehe. End results_Santiago (1st), San Clemente (2nd), Sunny Hills (3rd). Wouldn't you think it's kind of unfair to know that the advisor in charge of AAG was the advisor of Santiago? Hmm.
The volleyball tournament was fun. We made it into the 3rd round (there were 5 rounds, including finals). We lost to Mission Viejo who beat Los Amigos 11-0. MV is a freakin' good team dude! They beat us 11-1. hahaha. At least we scored one point. hehehe. Mission Viejo ended up in the finals against El Toro, cross-town rivals to begin with. El Toro ended up winning.
I loved my girls from Sunny Hills. At first, I only knew 3 of them--those three were freshman when I was a senior. It was great to get to know all 26 of the girls and share memories with them. Milk and cookies were in my room on Thursday night and it was really fun to have the 26 girls packed in my single-bed room w/a couch. It was a tight-squeeze but we got it. They are really great girls.
*Sigh* Nostalgia.
I got home on Friday afternoon at 4pm. We had a family dinner @ Black Angus. It was nice b/c it's rare to get all 5 of us together. Usually, my sister is always left out b/c she's never home. Afterwards, my sister, brother, and I went to Hollywood Video to rent a game for my brother on the GameCube. I don't know why he needs more games! He has so many games! Geez louise! After that, we just came home and I rested my butt off b/c I was so tired from OCL camp.
Saturday, I woke up at 1p. Good times. I did the normal chores, took a nap (hehe), and at night, went to dinner with my sister. At night, I watched The Princess Diaries 2. It was such a cute movie. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD.
Speaking of DVDs, I added Pocahontas, A Bug's Life, The Prince and Me, Master and Commander, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Message in a Bottle to my collection of DVDs. yay! I ♥ DVDs!!
Sunday, I went to Magic Mtn with the cousins. It was fun, but hot. *shudders* Me and heat do not mix. I can't stand the scorching heat from the sun! Anyways, it was Scott and my sis, Don and Kat, BJ and Crystal, and Joy and me. It kind of sucked b/c of the 3 couples that went + Joy and me. Joy and me felt so left out. Ugh.
By the time we got there, it was 330. hahaha. We lagged like no other! We're filipino! What can we say! It was really traffic too. We only rode 4 rides. hehehehe.
Viper - Only a 20 minute wait. It was fun. Can't argue with that.
Dejavu - 2 hour wait. Well worth it!! It was SUCH a fun ride!! Joy and I rode in the back and it was soOoO scary!!! hehehehe. Don drooled on us. LOL!! We saw Redman after the ride. hehe. Cool.
Batman - 1 hr 45 min wait. SoOoOoOo not worth it! I got all light-headed from the ride! Geez louise.
Goliath - 1 hr wait. Worth it! It was fun! B2K rode on it before we did. Cool.
We were going to ride on X but by the time we got there, it was 9:30pm. There was a sign at the entrance that said if we'd like to ride it, all guests must be in line by 9:00pm. Boo'urns! We didn't get to ride the Laker-color ride!! Boo!! I'm going back now. lol.
The park closed at 10 so we left. We went to Wendy's for dinner--we were all starving.
The ride home was alright. We saw about 6 cop cars going north on the 5 (we were on the 5 South) following each other with their lights on. Very strange. I wonder what that was all about.
When I got home, I took a 30-minute shower. Felt really good b/c I felt really icky from the day.
Good times at Magic. =]
I'm going to Disneyland again sometime this month, hopefully the weekend of the 27th, or maybe afterwards, since it won't be as packed 'cause all the little kiddies will be in school (including me! dun dun duuuuuun!!) I don't know. My cousins Shyll and Joy really want to go so I'm sure we'll all make the time for them.
Apparently, I'm going to Vegas on November 26, 27, and 28. Someone's turning 21!! Hoody hoo!! (Did I just say that?!??!========> Okay, that wasn't me. lol) Should be fun. I really hope I don't have any midterms or papers due around that time. *crosses fingers*
I'm actually going to buy books this week! I usually buy them on the first day of school but I figured I'm smart enough now (or basically un-lazy now) to actually get up and do it earlier! I won't have to stand in the humongo line with a million books in my hand that'll cost me another million dollars. Go me! hahaha.
Bonfire this Thursday? Maybe! yay!
I think I bored you all out now. I'll stop. hehe. I guess this is what I get for not updating for an entire week. I'm sure there's a lot more I missed but I'm too lazy to continue. =]
Have a great week everyone!! Live up the rest of your summer!!
