White Shores Are Calling...

I'm not sure how to say this. But because so many people on my list know him, I figure I must. I've never had to do this before, tell anyone something like this, so please bear with me. Yesterday I mentioned in my LJ that I hadn't heard from Rit (koniegeek) and then someone else did as well. Bev noticed I mentioned him and sent me this link - Read more... )

I already posted to the group. And as he died a week ago, I'm sure the funeral has already come and gone. I wish I knew how to get in touch with the family. I did find out his work has set up a memorial fund for the family, his wife and kid, so I'm trying to get more info on that and will post it as soon as I know more.

Yes, please let us know. I'd like to send something to help them out. I'm in shock right now...I only knew him from LJ, but he was a wonderful guy.

This news is so incredibly sad. I can't believe it, and I wish it weren't true. Rit was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He always had wonderful words of encouragement and advice. Like Mel said, he always had a smile on. I know that God takes us out of this world when he thinks it is our time, but it is so hard to accept that this would be his time leaving his wife and child behind. He will truly be missed.

OH My GOSH.

This is horrible news.

Simply horrible.

*cries*

I'm speechless. Rit was such a wonderful guy. Such a great guy. And the sad part was I remember one of his latest entries was a troubled one about him having problems with his wife.

I thoughts are with his wife and beloved son. He loved them both so much.

Rest in Peace koinegeek.

Same here, Lil. I'd like to send Kim a note to let her know how Rit was such a friend to everyone. I know when my dad died, the encouragement from others, and hearing how daddy affected others was really important to me, so I'd like to do the same for her.

I've sent it to both of you. Mom said what you did EPoL. That hearing what an impact Rit's life had will probably be a great comfort to his wife.

I got it. Truly, I know it helped me to hear what others had to say, to see how many people mourned his loss. I know it's so ridiculous, but when I was first going home after Daddy died, all I could think was, "What if my dad died, and no one notices, or cares?" And that was dumb, and I found out how many people did care, and mourned his loss; and as his daughter, that meant a lot to me.

I really encourage anyone who's life was touched by Rit, to let Kim know, because I think she would be appreciative to know that so many people cared and feel his loss, too. I've had friends to suffer losses and didn't do anything or know what to say, and I feel bad about it now, because now I KNOW how much it mattered to me. It's not just for you, it's for Rit and his family.

Lilia, i'm so glad that you let everyone know.
