James Potter is tripping over his shoelaces, rueful smiles, half-apologies, and nervous laughter. He is energy, broken down into physical form, because he twitches constantly and hums to himself to fill the silence. He is Quidditch reflexes and unwavering loyalty; he is unkempt, thick, curly hair and red Converse shoes, threadbare t-shirts bought out of awe and excitement as opposed to necessity, and he is an eternal romantic wrapped up in a blanket of enduring, undying love.
Lily Evans is a quirked eyebrow, swallowed grins, and a never ending supply of barely concealed sarcasm. She is green eyes awash with mirth, faked impatience, toughness tempered by gentle moments and healing hands. She is yellow kerchiefs, ripped jeans and black Converse shoes, but she is mature beyond her years, poised with purpose, unrepentantly funny. She is surprisingly put together and afraid, all wrapped up into loud laughter and a guitar. She is a reluctant lover, desperate to hide her romantic whims, but the sight of messy curls makes her think of glasses askew and whispered stories by wandlight.
They argue, they seethe, they love, they live. It is amazing that she spent the majority of her time at Hogwarts hating him, but he has convinced her that her hatred was a stubborn mask for how much she's always loved him too. Though she denies it vehemently, deep down she knows its true. It's why she moved in with him, it's why she cries when she's frustrated that she can't talk to him when he's on a mission, and it's why she's agreed to marry him.
It has nothing to do with the fact that she's pregnant and he doesn't know yet.
