Oh my god, I love this story to bits and pieces. Joanna is one of the deceased background characters that rather intrigue me , and your portrayal of her is so pitch-perfect that I shall henceforth adopt it as headcanon. Also, I love the foreshadowing of how her three children are going to grow up: "wakeful and calculating" Cersei the would-be conqueror, Jaime as the impatient cub with a "rude mouth and a good heart", and Tyrion as his father's heir, for good or ill. Truly magnificent!
Thank you! I'm so glad you like my take on Joanna. It was so much fun to write this, imagining a woman that someone like Tywin would respect and love and who would love him.
Oh, this is positively stunning. I love the voice you've given Joanna, how much it both resembles and diverges from what we have of her children. Her relationship with Tywin feels wonderfully real and loving and like a true marriage of equals, and I genuinely hurt for Tywin at the end. The glimpses we get of Jaime and Cersei are lovely and so, so telling of what they become.

I was discussing/defending Tywin the other day and went "oh, wait, what does this remind me of? Right. EVERY OTHER FANDOM EVER."
The Lannisters break their own hearts, dammit. >_
