Under the shadow of this red rock

Genfic - Tywin, Genna, Kevan | 2500 words | spoilers for ADWD | for hamsterwoman who wanted sibling-fic when I offered drabbles. Unsurprisingly, given the characters and my obsession with them, this is really not a drabble. I hope it will still suffice.

This is amazing. Beautiful writing, and what a powerful final line, what a great way to end it!

Poor Genna. After Kevan's death I never thought about what it would do to her - I never realized that, hey, she has lost both her brothers now, she is all alone. I hope we do get some insight on Genna in the next book.

Thank you!

This generation of Lannisters fascinates me to no end, and they have such interesting dynamics. Genna is truly the only one left and I sort of hope she will keep being awesome until the end. :)

I think I can find it in myself to be OK with an extra two thousand words of Genna, Kevan, and Tywin fic ;)

I love these three glimpses so much! The three of them together as children, Kevan's POV in the middle one that works so well with what we see in the epilogue (and I love the little detail that Kevan is the better swordsman), the small and rare comfort of touch that anchors the first two, and the post-ADWD Genna POV (poor Genna!), in which it was great to see her thoughts on Cersei and to see her, like the other Lannisters whose POVs we've had in the book, continuing to think of Tywin's presence after his death, and the way her thoughts at the end bring the story full circle.

And, as always, I'm just completely immersed in your vision of the relationship between Tywin and Joanna, your ability to articulate so sharply what attracts me to this pairing with sentences like "With Joanna, Kevan knows, he had not found it necessary. Joanna had been strong enough on her own", because, yes, that's exactly it ( ... )

I'm so glad you liked it! It was a very enjoyable prompt to write indeed.

For some reason I've always pictured Tywin as a good swordsman but not a great one, nothing like Jaime (who fights like Ty, if Genna's verdict anything to go by) and he doesn't strike me as someone who'd indulge in duelling or tourneys. This is just gut feeling, though. :)

Joanna/Tywin hits me where it hurts, I must admit. And I'm happy I can put my fangirly emotions into more coherent sentences. (In my head they sound nothing like that, more like frustrated, high-pitched wails.)

I don't think I'll ever get enough of your Lannister family dynamics! I particularly like how you have fleshed out Genna here (who is my favourite Lion from the older generation). ♥

I'm glad, since I can't seem to shut up about them. ♥ I really, really hope Genna gets a chance to be awesome in the upcoming books.

This was awesome. I love how well the Lannister sibling PoVs go together here and Genna's especially was beautiful in all its sadness.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Genna being the only one left really makes me sad. I keep thinking of my grandmother who lost one sibling after the other and how she seemed to age with every funeral.
