So the monthly theme over at valyrian_forged is non-nobles and recently I stumbled upon someone who thought Tyrion treated Shae "far better than she deserved" so I had to write fic.

This is Shae's story and not bloody Pretty Woman, so references to non-explicit non-con appear | 1830 words | R for themes and language | Shae/Tyrion (of sorts) Everyone laughs at

I love this. I personally dislike Shae myself but I understand her and I've been defending her and condemning Tyrion's treatment of her - that includes slapping her in ACoK - for years.

And that comment you mentioned sickens me but doesn't surprise me. There's a reason so many killers choose prostitutes as their prey. :(

I don't think Shae is the best constructed character myself, but I also understand her and yeah, defend her.

This was fantastic. Your take on Shae is so plausible given what we've gotten on her from Tyrion's extremely flawed perspective, and I love the backstory you've given her.
