Echo echo echo...

Wow, long time no blog...Since I last made a post on July 24th, I have done the following:
1.) Got laid off. Still unemployed, though I am working 11 or so hours a week at the local comic book and game store, but I'm not hoping to make it a career or anything. It's pretty straightforward work, though having to do the inventory is going to be ( Read more... )

Congratulations on turning 30! And for escaping, for want of better term, from a thankless and hateful job.

I've heard the phrase "30 is the new 20" bandied about, although I'm not sure I quite understand what it's trying to say, but if you follow that line of reasoning it's not too early yet to go back to school and try something new. :)

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you best of luck! :)

Welcome to your third decade! (I'm in my fourth. Trust me, the third one was as good as the second in many, many ways.)

I'm sorry your without a job, but it is good that you're able to reflect upon it. I'm still wondering what I want to do when I grow up, but I have kids and so there are no more lifestyle/career changes in my future. I agree with IrishNinja. Now's a good time to try to do something about it if you want to. Alternatively, now might also be a good time to "go on walkabout" and think about the future. Best of luck either way!

I'm working on heading back to school for a degree in Culinary Management...but I was denied my FAFSA because I made too much money last year. However, the upcoming year is a different matter entirely. The local college also has a position open for an assistant IT manager, and one of the benefits is a tuition waiver...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Ah, that sounds like a good idea! I hope it works. Have you heard of the CIA (Culinary Institute of America): http://www.ciachef.edu/

It's out near us. In my dreaming moments, I think that it would be awesome to attend.

Well; Congrats on the whole 30 thing, however I say this to the support thing: When a customer who is in tears because they feel as if their whole life in pictures is gone or their latest development project is gone and you, the support technician, can watch as their eyes light up when you recover that set of photos, or that long toiled over development project. One can say...."I did that!"
