The diet my wife and I are on (I'm on it more for emotional support since it is a diet for "health reasons") is called the Specific Carbohydrates Diet and forbids sugar of any kind except for direct from fruit or honey.

It's a major bummer to see all the artificial crap that's going into food nowadays - especially from places you trust.

My body has started to rebel against sugary things lately. One night I had a Mountain Dew and felt awful afterward. The way you feel after a major junkfood binge, staying up late tabletop gaming? (I've done it ONCE. Never again. Ugh.)

Dieting together makes things so much easier, on so many levels.

I have been shifting more toward fruit sugars too! My body seems to think Kiwi fruit are the fashionable thing right now (I've been craving it, and have only had one before in my life, YEARS ago), and I can hardly finish a soda. I've been taking more advantage of that with unsweetened tea.

Fake sugar makes me sad, and in long term studies, people who resort to fake sugars to cut sugar carbs end up consuming MORE carbs overall anyhow. The body knows what it wants, and it doesn't want chemistry. it wants "food".

Honey = my love. Nawm nawm.

Fake sugars were found to cause lab rats to eat more food to feel full, while real sugars (cane and so on) caused the rats to eat a normal amount of food.

So, all those diet drinks are actually probably causing people to eat more, plus the negative side effects of that crap. :(

Hail you for saying it how it is. If it kills lab rats, then don't eat it!

I'm with you on this. Panera, seriously downhill lately.

As for artificial stuff, I'm with you on that too. :)

I gotta say, I LOVE Splenda. It's the best thing that ever happened to Sweet Tea.

I know lots of people that think it tastes awesome. If it does, rock on with it, I suppose! Those people usually do not believe me when I tell them how awful it is to my tastebuds. "Just try it!" Honestly, I would not say it tasted bad if I had not tried it a few times.

YOU BELIEVE ME, DONT YOU!?

;)
