Summary: Daniel Pierce watches as his son sheds his fatigues and becomes a civilian again.

This was really good-it's completely in canon considering how broken Hawkeye was at the end there. I loved it.

I just did a reread and a couple of continuity errors-
How could Daniel know a nurse in WORLD WAR II??? That was only 8-9 yrs before the present story? Was he a war doctor(or wouldn't he be too old?) or did you mean WW I -which would have made more sense if Hawkeye is like 30.
Secondly-there was a generation between the two world wars-24 yrs(In America), 22 yrs in Europe. That was more than enough time for children born after the war to be young adults during WWII.
Anyway-didn't mean to be nitpicky, but when something is this good you want it to be PERFECT!!

1. Nope. I meant WWII. I always figured Daniel Pierce to be the type of guy who went where he was needed, and if doctors were needed in WWII, then he was there. Hawkeye would have been in Medical School then, as far as I'm concerned.
2. You're right about the generation gap, but I think that going from the age of 18 to the age of 40 doesn't really change the enlistment factor. I mean, 40 year olds weren't getting drafted (or the were, but they don't talk about it), but they could still enlist.

Thanks for point this out. I'm really glad you liked the story, and I'll probably go back and change the generation hint at some point :)

I'm more of a Hawkeye/BJ person, but I'm glad I read this, because it was just lovely :)) I love fics with Hawkeye's dad and I think you did a great job portraying his character here :)

Oh ho, I've always been a Hawk/Trap person, I personally prefer the first 3 seasons of MASH to any of the rest, I'm a bit of a purist like that. When I said won me over it was a more general thing about the fic itself, rather than the specific paring. I'm all over H/T like ants on jam =D. The 2000 word oneshot in my word processor seems to think so as well ;P

Oh. I totally misread that. Yay for Hawkeye/Trapper fic. Please post it :) I feel like the world is painfully short on Hawkeye/Trapper.
