I was chatting with my best friend last night on the phone. We were both laughing and she said it is obvious that I am from the west-coast. So while I may be the only one of my species in the northeast region, I thought I'd post this one for laughs.
YOU MIGHT BE FROM THE WEST-COAST IF........
)Your early childhood memories involve being in diverse classrooms. You do not recall whites being the majority. Instead your classrooms consisted of: Asians, Hispanics,Blacks, and whites. You can recall at least one of your best-friends from school as being of another culture. When people make racist comments, you are the first to defend your former friends.
)You enjoy eating Mexican food. People around you shake their heads wondering how you can enjoy eating foods that make their eyes water.
)While your other friends have not given any thought toward what clothing articles they need to purchase for summer, you are the first to look at swimsuits.
)Others claim it is a warm winter day. You are bundled up in your long-johns, 3 pairs of socks, and long sleeved shirt under your turtleneck sweater. You are very baffled by how others can claim it is a warm day, because you are still freezing.
)You have ever been involved in environmental lobbying.
)You have ever been involved in war protests.
)Several of your clothing items are brightly colored such as turquoise.
8) You own CDs by artists others have never heard of such as The Stills and Louis XIV.
)Your friend discusses how he/she loves 80s music. You are shocked to learn that your friend has never heard of bands such as The Cure,The Ramones, or The Smiths.
)You have ever gone to Wegmans because you were having cravings for Gardenburgers.
)Your motto is "live and let live."
)Your friends are convinced that if you were alive in the 1960s and 1970s......you would have been a hippie.
)You are a Michael Moore fan.
)You wonder why it isn't a law that all towns carry a Starbucks.
)Your backpack and student planner have buttons or stickers that voice opinions on: erasing racism, protecting the environment, or changing the world. You are surprised that most have not heard of Margaret Mead.
)None of your friends are surprised to know that you were once a former grunge kid, or how Hole and Nirvana were your 2 favorite bands in junior high school.
)While living on the west-coast you were the normal one in your group of friends....out here you are considered the eccentric one.
Hope you all got some good laughs. Now it's off to complete my Humanities mid-term, a test and class activity for my Study Skills class, some History Reading, and some review for Friday's Psychology mid-term.
