Give blood!

The DC Rollergirls will be at INOVA in Sterling, VA next Sunday (Nov. 5) to give blood and hand out juice and cookies AND/or free lunch! The Cowboys vs. Redskins game will be playing on plasma TVs. There will be drawings for prizes.

Cool! I need to find out what time we're heading up to see the in-laws on Sunday (bleagh). If it's late enough, I might be able to do my part.

They are open earlier in the morning but we don't get there til 12... you could still go and say the DC Rollergirls encouraged you, so we get "credit". We're supposed to bring in a certain number of people, and it looks like not as many rollergirls signed up for donating as the coordinator expected :-/ Though it would be nice to see you, it has been a while!

I've never donated, but doing this event is finally getting me motivated. My blood pressure might be too low, but maybe I can give plasma.

Their page hasn't been updated/maybe they aren't changing their eligibility requirements but I think the law changed as of Nov. 1 to say that people who got tattoos over 6 months ago in a clean shop with single-use needles and inks are ok. If you really want to participate (though VA would be a long drive for you and a long drive home afterwards), you could call and ask if the rules have changed since the site was last updated.

Ah, I couldn't remember how long ago it was!

This will be my first time donating, since I AM eligible... IF my blood pressure is okay, which I kinda doubt it will be. But I'll be on skates and helping out with lunch, or something. I might be able to donate plasma (and not for the TV...)

Highly doubt that I can donate blood either, but I'll be in VA that evening, so it's not out of the question for me to show up.
