To celebrate the release of Japanese HBP translation, the school library decided to dedicate a corner of it for Harry Potter books, and naturally I'm the one responsible for writing reviews, making banners, and doodling (which is always the fun part of the game).
This illustration is the famous "Draco crying in the girl's bathroom" scene from HBP. It is one of the pictures that will be displayed at the corner.
I think I'm making progress. Not that I'm getting better or anything, but that I only used one reference this time, instead of 3, and the reference I used was a piece of watercolor artwork of Sargent, just for its color. I usually don't start until I've gathered enough reference material, but this time I took the risk of ruining my expensive watercolor paper and just let hell break loose. This piece is no better than my other watercolor work, I think. Nevertheless, it's drawn with much more confidence, which I greatly lacked and needed.
I didn't know how to paint the back of Draco's sleeve and thus screwed it up. Hope it doesn't show up too much.
It's funny how one's confidence declines with age. I remember myself being a cocky teenager who thinks she's better than the majority of world's population. Perhaps I would be more attractive if f I could regain one-tenth of the confidence I had ten years ago. :-)
Thank you
spooy for your recommendation on watercolor paper. You're totally right - it's the paper that makes all the difference. :-)
