Japanese Katakana-go

Nov 09, 2008 15:07

Katakana-go is basically Japanese words of foreign origin. For example, the English word taxi is タクシー in Japanese, pronounced as takushii. Some are quite easy, e.g.
Cream: クリーム(Kuriimu)
Chocolate: チョコレート(chokoreeto), and
Sketch book: スケッチブック (Suketchi Bukku).

Some are more difficult to decipher, such as
Office worker: サラリーマン (Sarariiman) = salary man
Gas Station: ガソリンスタンド (Gasorinsutando) = Gasoline stand

Here's a little quiz that I made up not too long ago. Have fun!

(Note: choice 3 of question 2 should be Portugal)
(Note2: choice 3 of last question should be Word Processor. Apologies)
