Here's the original prompt:
sunrise breaks its fatal perfume
and I'm dizzy to distraction
the scented clutches of a siren's lament
embrace the sound of enchantment
five fathoms deep, the lovers leap
the lanterns of skin beckon us in
o belladonna
nightfalls decent shrouds her intent
in a halo of sharks and a skeleton mask
o belladonna
daylight devours your unguarded hours
burnt and charred, this bride of scars
o belladonna
lost in the glare, all of us stare
the patterns of pain, scream out your name
o belladonna

Commentary:
Drawing in this style requires too much patience, which is something I don't possess (and can't be bothered about). It was fun in the beginning, drawing all the pretty flowers and the cracks and the shades and everything, but gradually the details became very, very annoying. In the end it took me twice as much time as I initially estimated. I don't think I want to do this style ever again.
Please don't dig too deep about the meaning of the art. I merely wanted to put down the things I liked to see on paper. As the maker of the art I would be flattered if it could provoke your imagination, and I'd be equally happy if you could enjoy it as just a decorative piece of art.
I'd like to thank
melusinahp for hosting such a wonderful fest. I enjoyed very much how darkfest was run, and the fest has given me an opportunity to force myself to do something different. :-)
I haven't had time to go through many fest entries, to that I apologize to all participants. I'm afraid the same will happen to
hd_holidays and all other wonderful h/d work posted on LJ as well - I don't even think I can ever catch up, given my RL work being all consuming at the moment. As much as I'd like to contribute to the fannish community, I regret I only have limited energy, and I'd like to first divert it to creating artwork. Please don't feel offended because I didn't get to respond to your work. I won't feel offended if you don't comment on mine either, so please don't feel obligated to comment on my art. I won't love you less than I already have.
Good night, and happy Winter holidays! :-)
