I stepped outside this morning to move my car, and I was overwhelmed by the smell of eggs. A warm breeze blew down the street, and suddenly I was back in Paris. The smell, the feeling of it was so precise -- it was the feeling of standing on the corner of Rue de l'Odéon, waiting for the street vendor to hand me my breakfast. I have similiar nostalgic flashbacks with Scotland and Port Townsend, Washington. A day with particular weather or a smell of something on the wind and without warning I am standing on a hill looking at a stone circle or sitting on a rock watch the wind roll across a loch.

Believe me, I understand...

You're so right; there's a little bit of Paris everywhere. I love those nostalgic moments, but they leave me both reinvigorated and full of longing.
